Hawaiian Pacifica Spirulina in particular is a specifically bred strain of the micro-algae Spirulina Platensis cultured in shallow (20cm deep) ponds in Hawaii adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. Food grade baking soda and carbon dioxide are also used to grow the culture. Food grade fertilisers are also used. Drying is done by a special 'ocean chill' drying method using deep sea water to prevent oxidisation, and tablets are formed through cold pressing without heat or granulation.
Some of the benefits they claim include anti-inflammatory properties, being a complete source of protein, antioxidant properties and a source of B vitamins. 6 tablets are said to include the same anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties as 5 servings of fruits and vegetables.
